Kul Kuls

Snack on some crunchy flour based kul kuls this Christmas. This easy to make Indian snack recipe is quite a popular festive goodie in Goa, Mangalore and Kerala.

Serves: 4-5

Cooking time: 90 min

Ingredients

  • Maida - 200gm
  • Aashirvaad Svasti Pure Cow Ghee - 1/2tbsp
  • Semolina - 2tbsp
  • Milk, to knead
  • A pinch salt
  • Sugar – 3/4th cup
  • Water – 5-6 tbsp
  • Oil for frying

Preparation

  • Mildly roast the semolina in a pan.
  • Now knead maida, Aashirvaad Svasti Ghee, roasted semolina, salt and milk to form a dough.
  • Roll small sized balls from the dough and mould them into oblong shapes using a fork. Keep aside.
  • Meanwhile for the sugar syrup, combine sugar and water and allow it to boil till it forms a one string consistency.
  • Now heat oil in a kadai and fry the kul kuls till it turns golden brown.
  • Soak the kul kuls in the warm sugar syrup for a few minutes.
  • Take them out and cool them in a tray.
  • Serve with some Christmas cake and Rose Cookies.
